Board of Directors

    The following individuals have graciously volunteered their time and talents to serve on our Board of Directors for 2022.


    Kerry Simmons - President 


    Brenda Robbins - President Elect

    Brenda is the Manager of Human Resources at Union Power Cooperative and has 30+ years of experience in the field of Human Resources.  Organizations that Brenda has worked for in the past include Anheuser-Busch, Inc. (Ft. Collins, CO), Cabela's (Sidney, NE) and High West Energy (Pine Bluffs, WY).  Brenda's expertise includes Employee Relations, Staff Management, Compliance, Workers' Compensation, FMLA, Organizational & Employee Development, Labor Relations, Benefits, Compensation and Business Leadership & Strategy.

    Brenda currently holds her SHRM-SCP (Society of Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional) and SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources)  certifications.  Brenda obtained her Master of Business Administration degree from Colorado State University and her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Denver.

    In 2019, the UCRA Chapter honored Brenda with the Paula Harvey HR Professional of the Year Award.  Brenda was a member of the 2016 Class of Leadership Union and has serviced on the Workforce Development Board (partnership with local business, Union County Public Schools and the Union County Chamber of Commerce).  As a current member of the Job Ready Committee for Union County, she gets to fullfill her passion of educating the youth of Union County.  eBrenda currently teaches a SHRM Certification course at South Piedmont Community College in Monroe.

    In Brenda's spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends, golfing, working in her yard, walking, cross stitching and being with family (when she can get back to Colorado).  


    Jeanne Pritt - Past President

    Jeanne Pritt, MSOD, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CQA is CEO of People Outcomes, LLC, an organization development consulting firm focused on leveraging organization strengths through talent, strategy and culture. She brings decades of senior leadership experience in the human services, healthcare and government industries. Pritt received her Masters of Science in Organization Development and Coaching Certification from McColl School of Business, Queens University of Charlotte and her Bachelors in Psychology from Penn State University. Her community involvement includes leadership roles with Waxhaw-Weddington Rotary, Waxhaw Entrepreneurs and Women Executives, Charlotte.

    While born in Pennsylvania, Jeanne considers herself thoroughly ‘southernized’ and calls Waxhaw her home. In her free-time she reads, spends time with her daughter and friends, travels and enjoys many active hobbies, such as hiking with her dog, Lilly.

    Sharon L. Robinson, MBA - Treasurer / Foundation Chair

    Sharon Robinson received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  She subsequently worked in several roles in a variety of organizations.  After several years of work experience, she returned to UNC Charlotte to pursue a Master of Business Administration.

    After graduating, she accepted a position in Human Resources in the private sector.  In this role, she worked in Employee Retention and then in a role within Compensation and Benefits.  She joined Wingate University in September 2008.  She currently serves as the Director of Career Development.  In addition, she has taught a course which covers resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing techniques, and job search strategies.  In previous years, she served on the UCHRA Board as the Workforce Readiness Chair, the President-Elect, President, Past President, and Webmaster.  In addition, she has served on the North Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers Conference Committee, was the Treasurer of the NC Career Consortium of Metrolina Colleges from 2010-2019 and is the President of the Consortium for 2019-2021.


     Keith Guercio- Co-Vice President of Membership

    As manager of business development for Carolina Cooperative Federal Credit Union, Keith strives to connect companies and their employees to the CCFCU.  This relationship provides tremendous value to member companies' benefit packages which sets them apart when attracting high quality applicants for employment.  Keith enjoys assisting all strata of employees with their financial health and planning.

    In addition, Keith has managed his sales territory for Herff Jones for thirty years specializing in providing scholastic products and services to our area high schools.  Keith has been recognized for customer service excellence throughout his career and has received the company’s highest honor, the Hall of Fame Award.

    Christian Mission and Family are his highest priorities.  Keith has been ordained as an elder, served as a deacon and counselor.  He has served in Peru for over 12 years building many homes and relationships, and, has learned a little Spanglish along the way.


    Crystal Brookshire - Co-Vice President of Membership

    Crystal Brookshire, MBA, SHRM-SCP, is the Founder and Managing Partner of Brookshire Growth Partners, LLC, an organization development consulting company offering an array of services including HR consulting, Leadership Development, and Creative Talent Acquisition Solutions.  Crystal has a passion for supporting individuals and companies on their path to growth. 

    Crystal received her Masters in Business Administration from Wake Forest University and her Bachelors in Psychology and Management & Society from UNC-Chapel Hill. A lifetime learner she followed her passion for leadership development and became a John Maxwell Team Certified Coach, Speaker & Trainer.  


    Christina Snethen - Co-Vice President of Programs & Certification

    Christina Snethen is the Human Resources Administrator at Union Power Cooperative. Christina obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in Finance from Coastal Carolina University. While Christina’s education was primarily focused in Finance, she has taken on the challenging responsibilities of Human Resources in her position at Union Power Cooperative. She has completed the Corporate and Continuing Education Human Resources Certificate Program at CPCC, and has obtained her SHRM-CP certification.  In 2020, the UCRA Chapter honored Christina with the Paula Harvey HR Professional of the Year Award. 

    Christina has held positions at the following organizations: Conway National Bank in Conway, SC, Acadia Northstar, LLC in Rutherfordton, NC, The NC Public Charter School Association in Charlotte, NC, and Barefoot and Company, a BMC Company in Indian Trial, NC.

    Christina grew up in Myrtle Beach, SC and is a beach girl at heart. She enjoys doing anything and everything outdoors. She is a  social butterfly and enjoys spending all of her spare time with her family, husband Cas, daughter Kennedy and son Crew.  Her passion is helping others and traveling.


    Kristen Winchester - Co-Vice President of Programs & Certification

    Kristen is the Assistant HR Manager at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company’s Plastics Division in Monroe, NC. Charlotte Pipe has been a trusted manufacturer of plumbing systems since 1901, and is the nation's top maker of cast iron and plastic pipe and fittings. Kristen graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and in 2016, obtained her PHR certification.

    In her current role, she is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, community involvement and Company events. In addition, Kristen organizes and manages the Company’s annual charitable giving campaign, which supports local charities in the communities where associates live and work. She also serves on the Hospice of Union County Advisory Board.

    Kristen is married to her husband, Zach, and they have two little boys who keep them very busy. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her family and friends and enjoys occasional trips to the beach and mountains.


     Kimberly Boyko - Co-Secretary

    Kim is the Director of Human Resources at New Forum, Inc, a company that operates multiple lines of business such as hospitality, commercial real estate, multi-family residential and senior living. They located in Charlotte near Pineville. Kim began her HR career at Merck pharmaceuticals and worked in their world headquarters located in New Jersey. Her first HR role was in the HR IT space as a Communications, Change & Training (CCT) manager while the company was implementing SAP. From there she moved onto more HR IT as a web content manager within the HR Shared Services organization. At that point she moved into HR Operations team where she continued her work in the HR IT space as a project manager. Kim relocated to Charlotte in 2016 with Merck.

    Kim recently passed both the SHRM-SCP and the SPHR this spring. She holds a master’s degree from St. Elizabeth University in Madison, NJ in Management and she obtained her Six Sigma Green Belt while at Merck.

    When not working Kim enjoys running and has completed 18 marathons, and most recently completed her first ultra-marathon (50k) in November 2021.

    She has been married for 23 years and has two daughters, one a freshman in college, the other a sophomore in high school and they are the most valuable parts of her life.


    Sally Duncan - Co-Secretary

    Sally is the Human Resources Coordinator II at Goulston Technologies, Inc. Gouston is a chemical manufacturing company in Monroe, NC, specializing in surface modification technologies.  Sally has been with Goulston since 1997.  She started out working as a technician in both the Quality and R&D laboratories before transitioning in 2007 into her current role in Human Resources.  One of her greatest professional achievements was obtaining her SHRM-CP (Society of Human Resource Management Certified Professional) in 2017.

    She performs a variety of administrative and coordination activities, including assisting with benefit enrollment, FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, employee recruitment, onboarding, coordinating company events and employee appreciation initiatives, as well as assists with compliance and record keeping activities in both HR and Health, Safety and Environmental. 

    Sally has been married over 25 years and enjoys spending time with her family and friends and seeking out new adventures. She has a strong faith that motivates her to help others.


     Laurie Primm - Government Affairs

    Laurie Primm is the Human Resources Administrator at the Barefoot & Company division of BMC.  Laurie received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Legal from Campbell University.   Laurie has held the position as Office Manager at several construction related companies which encompassed the responsibilities of payroll, benefits administration and recruiting, all of which have fostered her interest in Human Resources.  Laurie has held positions with Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A., Heritage Construction, Sealing Agents and Paragon Homes of Charlotte.  She has completed the Human Resources Certificate Program at CPCC and is currently studying to take the SHRM-CP certification exam.

    Laurie is married with three children and is active in their interests which include serving as Treasurer for the Marvin Ridge Band Boosters and sponsoring blood drives for the Red Cross.  She grew up at the beach but prefers the mountains.

    The best part of working in Human Resources is the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping people work through problems and questions which can have a positive effect on their work and personal lives.


      Cheryl Brakefield - College Relations Chair

     

    Cheryl is the Director of Employee Development at South Piedmont Community College.  In this role Cheryl is responsible for Employee Relations, Onboarding, Employee and Professional Development, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Worker’s Compensation, and Performance Management.   

    With over 18 years in the field of Human Resources/Training and Development, Cheryl has worked in the private, non-profit, and higher education sectors.  Cheryl holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from State University of New York at Albany and a Training and HRD Certification from Florida International University.

    Cheryl loves the outdoors, fitness, reading, volunteering, and good food.  The thing Cheryl enjoys most is spending time with her husband, daughter, and golden retriever! 


     Tera McKinney - Workforce Readiness Chair

    Tera is Assistant Vice President, Talent Acquisition Consultant at Fifth Third Bank and has over 19 years of experience in the field of Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Training and Development. Fifth Third Bancorp is a diversified financial services company that, operates 15 affiliates in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, Tennessee, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Georgia and North Carolina.

    Tera started her Human Resources career in west Texas before moving to West Virginia where she joined Fifth Third Bank. Tera, her husband, Burke and two children moved to Union County, North Carolina 10 years ago.

    Tera holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Marketing from Marietta College and her PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification. Over her tenure with Fifth Third Bank she was been awarded Officer of Year and multiple Recruiter of the Year awards.

    Faith, Family and Fitness is how Tera spends her free time. She enjoys volunteering through her church and community outreaches, serving with Samaritan’s Feet in the Dominican Republic, driving field to field with her husband watching their children play sports to running half marathons and practicing yoga.


    Mandy Henderson - Inclusion Chair


    Nancy Rutherford - Webmaster

    Nancy Rutherford is a human resource consultant working with clients in all aspects of human resource management including benefits administration. Her career history includes more than 25 years in human resources and corporate administration and accounting.  

    Nancy has earned PHR and SHRM-SCP certifications and has actively served on the board of Union County Human Resource Association for five terms. 

    Nancy believes that active networking and continuing professional development is a key to success for human resource professionals and that membership in UCHRA offers those opportunities.  

    Nancy and her husband live in Union County, enjoying a rural lifestyle that includes their horses, dogs and cats.


    Robert Guy, SPHR, SHRM-SCP – Board Advisor 

    Robert “Bob” is the Chief People Officer at Darnel, Inc. a global food packaging manufacturer with locations around the world and US headquarters in Monroe, NC.  Bob began working at Darnel, Inc. when it opened in 2006.  Bob also served as the HR Manager for an audio/video manufacturer in Fort Mill, SC where he served over 17 years.

    In addition to his role as Board Advisor, Bob has also served in a variety of roles on the UCHRA board as well as being UCHRA President in 2012.  Bob currently serves as the Membership Director on the NCSHRM State Council Executive Committee.  He also has served as a member of the Awards Committee and as Certification Director.

    Bob enjoys the arts and is involved in the arts community by being part of Festival Singers with Carolina Voices, a classical choir and with the visual arts as part of ArtsCharlotte and SouthEnd ARTS where his paintings have been included in the monthly art show and Uptown Gallery Crawl.  Bob lives life with his gracious wife, Lisa and two daughters, Emily and Abby.
